Artist Statement
Growing up overseas my family and I got to do a lot of traveling that exposed me to some of the most beautiful and famous pieces of art in the world. At a very young age this began my interest in art. To me art was an adventurous, engaging, and joyful thing. Some of my best family memories involved sightseeing, exploring, going through museums, or even checking out old ruins. All of these memories connected me to art in some way, and in my mind art work was linked to joyful times. I was inspired to create by famous pieces I had been privileged to see. As you go through my portfolio you will see a strong sense of life, with the use of bright colors, fun patterns, and an overall cheery atmosphere. You will also see that I chose to use a lot of pastels and flowers because they represent life and happiness. I work in pastels and bright colors because they allow me to express the joy and adventure that art makes me feel.
