Designing is a lot like gardening. Gardening has a small beginning-a seed—that requires a process to change it into something else. Likewise, as a graphic designer, a piece often starts with a client, and an idea. The process of designing, whether it's researching, sketching, exploring concepts, revising work, or a great many other things, is similar to the way that a gardener carefully tends to their vegetables and flowers. Gardeners must water, weed, fertilize, and watch over their plants in order to ensure a successful harvest. In the same way, a graphic designer must cultivate and explore their ideas in order to produce a successful design. Just like howa flower dies without water or sunlight, an idea can die if it isn't carefully tended to. Some designs don't make it through the entire process to the finished result; these are like the seeds that didn't root or plants that shriveled and died along the way. A gardener puts care and love into the work that they do and they have pride in the fruits of their labor. A graphic designer feels the same pride when looking at their finished works.
